Then I bought a small plate with four songs from "Romance of the Lovers" (D1) . Since then I can not imagine my life without this voice. Even when I listen to Gradsky's music performed by a symphony orchestra - I hear VOICE early ...

Unfortunately, the quoted article (which generally contains many inaccuracies) does not specify who played drums in the revived on the occasion of Skomorokh-I. Judging by the record - some very good drummer. Perhaps, Vladimir Polonsky? It is this composition: Alexander Gradsky - Alexander Buynov - Yuri Shakhnazarov - Vladimir Polonsky - in their time for the first time the "Skomorokhs" declared themselves "in full".

I recall that Alexander Lerman sang and played in Skomorokhakh Gradsky in 1970-72. The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the "MV" was also recorded on the (F1) film . The film "ROCK AND FORTUNE" in 1989-90. Went out to wide rental and was shown in cinemas throughout the USSR.
From the 20th anniversary of the "MV" commemorative exchanges of congratulations between Gradsky and Makarevich began. In January 1990, Andrei fulfilled the role of presenter at the celebration of the 40th anniversary of A.G. This historic moment was immortalized in the movie-concert "Antiperostroevy Blues" (F2) . In addition to the concert numbers, some monologues recorded outside the stage were included in the picture. The combination of unprecedented skills at that time with unprecedented insolence gave me the very rock and roll that was my ideal. And I realized that we will never come to this. And I'm afraid that if Skomorokhy had treated us worse or did not react at all, maybe I would quit music from that moment and never return to it. And Hradsky did not know why he saw us, well, if not his own children, then his younger brothers. He came up with his hands outstretched. Scandalously taught us to sing, unsuccessfully completely. He came to concerts, stood behind the scenes, sang with us. And he had a louder microphone than we have with all the amplifying equipment ...
This went on for quite some time. I can not say that the group "Skomorokhi" is our kind of direct teachers. But their attitude towards us, and the fact that they, being much higher than us then, kept us for equals in communication, it helped us a lot. ... However, it seems to me that Alexander Borisovich was not completely unsuccessful in teaching Makarevich to sing. In those things that were recorded in 1978-80. And where Andrei Vadimovich really tries to sing, demonstrates quite extreme rock vocals, and not just talking to the guitar, the influence of Gradsky is quite palpable. Anyway, this was my first impression of the first recorded "MV" record, and it was the song "While the candle is burning."
In the same way, it seems to me, and Yury Shevchuk, before recording his famous "Periphery", got a good acquaintance with Gradsky's vocal style and surely listened to his "Satires". To sing the rock in Russian, and to sing figuratively, expressively, without losing the essence and music of the poetic word - here it is, the GRADSKY SCHOOL, to bypass it, I think that people who tried to engage in this art seriously (I mean both rock bards and composers) , It was simply impossible.
A. Makarevich: "... And from what we suddenly sang in Russian? There is a version that we heard the singing in Russian Gradsky, stunned by this and quickly began to sing in Russian. But when we heard Gradsky it was a disaster for us, I realized that this is so unattainable, that he behaves so uninhibitedly on the stage that we should quit at once and not take up this matter. These words were told by Andrei Makarevich to the writer Alexander Zhitinsky in the late 1980s. But here is one of his comparatively recent interview , and in it again - words of gratitude to AG. In the meantime, when I return to the concert for the 40th anniversary of AG, I want to remind you that it was there that the first song of dedication to Gradsky was made, which Makarevich composed on the motif of the song "Expedition" AG. True, he sang this tune very much in his own way. The "Time Machine" "Soldier" - a broken Charleston. And Gradsky made from him a long ballad, a sort of "vocalise in Rapid." And in his text (including the read verse preamble) very interestingly beat the theme of "the right path", comparing his personal creative path with the path and choice of Makarevich. I regret very much that I could not fix this performance on the tape. I never heard it again. But it turned out, in my opinion, a beautiful, completely original thing, which would be worth publishing on a plate.
(Incidentally, if one were to collect all sorts of guest performances from Gradsky in one album - in rock concerts, composer's author's evenings, in programs with classical musicians, with foreign artists, etc. - a powerful disk would turn out. But did Alexander Borisovich Makarevichevsky "Soldier" sing in his authentic form? - I do not know. But why not? And indeed. I remember that in 1987, in the radio program "The World of Hobbies", the editor Tatyana Bodrova (with whom Gradsky was doing his all-Union "Hit Parade") held a round table with A. Gradsky, A. Makarevich and Alexander Sitkovetsky, the leader of the " Autograph". At the moment when Makarevich began to list the last recordings of his group, Gradsky jumped in and gambled: "... Gradsky and "Skomorokhs" laid the foundations for professional rock music. The music is completely new, innovative, very democratic, but at the same time connected with centuries-old national and classical traditions and able to exist on an equal footing with all the world's MUSIC music, whether it's symphony, opera, jazz or folklore. Makarevich and his team chose their "right path" - very honest, organic, in no way borrowed and quite appropriate to existing talents. The way of household amateur song (no matter how sophisticated the text and electrical sound is), or, according to Gradsky's definition, "CIS music" (Soviet Folk Guitar). And this music really became popular, mass, mass favorite. And the masses produced the same, because exactly the same way, after Makarevich, all those who were only finally called " Russian rock " went.
I have nothing against this folk music, in my life it always had great significance, and still has ... But imagine that such a metamorphosis would happen to the fine arts! That is, the main, predominant and almost the only direction in painting would be "naive," folklore primitivism in the spirit of Pirosmani. Pirosmani is indisputably brilliant, but he does not overshadow all the peaks of the fine arts, he does not exhaust all the limits. And in Russian rock this happened ...
Gradsky, of course, can also be rightfully referred to Russian folk rock-CIS musicians for his "author's song" - a symbiosis of urban romance, blues and journalistic poetry (in this they may be musically related to Makarevich , Although there are a lot of differences here). But this is only one, a small part of the musician's work, which historian Ilya Smirnov rightly called "a conservative person" (B8) . Gradsky in general is unique in that both as an author and as a performer combines in one person the features of a musician of both academic and folklore type (a good topic for someone's dissertation). After all, dear Alexander Borisovich, I remind you -
he and himself a rock band,
he and the singing poet-actor / bard / shanson / folksinger,
he and the super-vocalist-wagon,
he and multi-instrumentalist / sound engineer, with jewelry mastery alone recording multilayer scores in the studio.
And yet - he is a real COMPOSER in the full academic sense of the word. Remember, finally, his wonderful music for the movie. After all, "Romance of the Lovers", and "Monte Cristo", and "In August of the 44th ..." - this is nothing more than complete, very complete - in complete contrast unity of the composing of their song and instrumental numbers - musical Works. Perhaps, Alexander Borisovich still wants to publish them in the form of separate CD-albums. It would be great. Well, before the "Master and Margarita", of course, I would like to live ...
